Dr. Nalaka Godahewa Takes Over Sri Lanka Tourism

Dr. Nalaka Godahewa has been appointed as the Chairman of Sri Lanka Tourism Development Authority, Sri Lanka Tourism Promotion Bureau, Sri Lanka Institute of Tourism and Hotels Management and Sri Lanka Conversation Bureau by Economic Development Hon. Minister Basil Rajapaksa.

Former CEO of Sri Lanka Insurance and Director of Imperial College of Business Studies, Nalaka Godahewa, successfully completed his PhD at the University of South Australia.

The Research Degree Committee of the University of South Australia accepted his thesis on ‘The impact of market orientation on the business performance of manufacturing organizations’ based on the recommendations from examiners from University of Sydney, University of Adelaideand University of Western Australia.

An old Anandian, Dr. Godahewa obtained a Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering at the University of Moratuwa and read for an MBA at the Post Graduate Institute of Management, University of Sri Jayewardenepura.

He is also a Fellow Member of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants of UK and also a Fellow Member of the Chartered Institute of Marketing of UK.

Immediately after graduating from University of Moratuwa with an honors degree in Electronics and Telecommunications Engineering, he joined Unilever Ceylon.

He held the positions of Head of Business Development of Unilever, Marketing Director of Suntel, General Manager of MAS Shadowline, CEO of two MAS overseas operations in Far East and Sub Saharan Africa before taking over as CEO of Sri Lanka Insurance.

World Spice Food Festival 2010

Following the success of the Spice Food Festival 2009, Sri Lanka will once again host the ‘World Spice Food Festival’ in 2010. The Festival will be held from the 14th to 24th of July 2010, will host 15 top signature chefs from countries like China, India, Indonesia, Italy, Korea, Egypt, Malaysia, Philippines, South Africa, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam.

Others special activities include the Sri Lankan Chili Crab cooking competition, spiced tea promotion, and the decorative spice ice cream promotion. The World Spice Food Festival (Public event) will be held on the 16th, 17th, and 18th of July 2010 at Green Path in Colombo.
